The Samsung Impression

The Samsung Impression, the first phone on the U.S. market with a screen that uses organic light-emitting diodes rather than liquid crystals, is shown at the International CTIA Wireless show in Las Vegas, Wednesday. The shift from numerical keypads to alphabetic keyboards, which has overturned cell phone design in the space of a two years, is a recognition of the popularity of text messaging, and to a lesser extent, wireless Internet use. For a while, I thought Nokia might had lost its tight grip on global handset supremacy. All over the world, people became so excited about Apple's iPhone, and then craved RIM's BlackBerry Bold.

These two smartphones are really hard to beat. They combine advanced technologies, complete sets of features and stunning looks. It was difficult to imagine that any other handset maker would be able to come up with something that would detract our attention from these two gorgeous products.

That's some surprising news, we bet Mr. Jobs is already throwing in a dinner party.

Despite the global financial crisis the smartphone market share is still growing (though at a slower pace than last year) and territories are being remapped. The third quarter of 2008 saw some really interesting changes in position.
